Prospectus excerpt: This short form prospectus qualifies the distribution (the “Offering”) of 10,000,000 Cumulative 5-Year Rate Reset Preferred Shares, Series A (the “Series A Shares”) of Bell Aliant Preferred Equity Inc. (the “Corporation”). The holders of the Series A Shares will be entitled to receive fixed, cumulative, preferential cash dividends, if, as and when declared by the Corporation’s board of directors (the “Board of Directors”) for the initial period from and including the closing date of this Offering up to but excluding March 31, 2016 (the “Initial Fixed Rate Period”) payable quarterly on the last Business Day of March, June, September and December in each year at an annual rate of $1.2125 per share.
